i8 Report

i8 then. I hadn't been to an i-series LAN for a year before this, and was expecting great things after paying £70. What happened? 4 days of some of the best TFC games I've played, expensive beer, fit pizza girls (when intoxicated) - and DRUNKENESS.

The Friday started slowly - 700+ people trying to get in meant the queues were long. I jumped it tho :E. The TFC tourney didn't start till Saturday but TC (who I played for) got a friendly with BH, and beat them well :). The TFC area was in Members Dining and seemed to be the best room. The others stank of CS players, who smell of wee.

On Saturday the tourney started, and I can only remember how TC did :D. We convincingly beat [BO] and [OTTAR] (never heard of them). [BO] decided that they would use rcon to change the map when we went ahead on two restarts of Shutdown2, so we got a default win. drtom then thought we should be lame on Crossover - we played three in def and had 5 backtracking sollys in attack. We won 200-30 and they got very pissed off :E. Then came the F2F game - we didn't think we had much of a chance against a team made up of SHS, DW etc. but we were only beaten 15-0 on rock2 and held them to a 10-10 draw on Openfire, mostly thanks to some incredible defence fatty by TNT and l33t bunnyhopping attack by drtom (his words in irc just now :E). In the other group KASAP and 187 got through to the semis, KASAP not conceding a single cap. Tarts.

Saturday night was cool, D2M and LOADSABEER deciding to get drunk on 3, maybe 4 shandys. They kept shambling over to the TC corner just to fall over and giggle a bit. They then dissappeared and when they came back I thought they were wearing each others trousers. Allegedly. I've also just been told that BEER tried to piss all over the floor, and D2M broke someones headphones :E.

Unfortunately all the days merged into one so I'll just descrive the rest of the tourney now. TC were up against KASAP and F2F were playing 187. TC didn't get off to a great start, KASAP sneaking a cap on rock2 thanks to Wicksman camping in our Gas Chamber taking my SG down ;( (I think). They then won 70-0 ish on 2fort. F2F then beat 187 (surprise)! Ummm get bored typing this now... better work out how to finish it...

Before the final came the 3rd place playoff - TC vs 187 - unfortunately we were down a player so in came a merc :D. We lost 30-10 (I think?) on Openfire which we thought we could draw, and for the full story of Stow just listen to this mp3 - it's done by Storm and he is uncomplimentary of the TC defence :).

The final was a bit of an epic, KASAP & F2F drawing the first map, and F2F ALMOST winning the second if WF hadn't have died mid RJ with the flag when he was just about to cap. This brought on a decider on Cz2 on which KASAP 0wned F2F - this might be due to F2Fs inspired decision to play just 1 scout compared to 4 or 5 by KASAP. Again there is commentary for this but I don't think anyone will want to download a 2.5 hour mp3 :D.

Other tourney stuff - Silence won the Solly DM tourney (Aimbot Wallhack0r!!1) and there was another solly DM organised by Storm (nob :P) where one person controlled the mouse and the other did the keyboard stuff - was a bit mad. Noone will tell me who won that so I'll just say it was Wicks and Cyanide cos they 0wned me & iPad!

Other news - Razz visited for a day and beat me 4 times at F Zero on my GBA... NumbNutz came across to where Matrix iPad, TNT, drtom and myself were standing and said "You must be drtom, nice to meet you, I'm NumbNutz" and pissed off without saying a word to any of the rest of us - git :P... and some Microsoft employee gave me a free Intellimouse Explorer laser thing that he was throwing away - bit burnt at the back but it works :E.

i8 was the best i-series LAN ever (but I have only been to two others) and i9 looks like it will be just as good - signup now!
